The George Barnsley Fitters Plough is also known in leathercraft as a Strip Awl
 
It is very similar to an edge shave in that it is a leather working tool used for trimming the edge of the leather to remove the sharp edge
 
The Fitters Plough is finished with a round polished beech handle and a steel ferule for strength
