The Bird's Beak is a traditional leatherworking knife design that has stood the test of time for one simple reason – it works.
Designed specifically for cutting curves, the long blade and open grip encourage the knife to naturally follow a line, rather than being influenced by small movements of the hand. It is surprising just how much a short blade and tight grip can affect the accuracy of a cut.
The sweeping curve of the blade also lends itself exceptionally well to freehand cutting. Think of the needle of a record player following the groove of a record; when used with a light touch, the knife naturally tracks the line with remarkable control.

D2 has long been a popular choice for leatherworking knives thanks to its excellent wear resistance and edge retention. It takes a keen edge and holds it well, making it particularly suited to users who value long periods between sharpening.
Once these D2 Bird's Beak knives are sold out, they will not be produced again in this specification.
Materials & Construction
The blade is laser cut from 2mm D2 tool steel and finished with a vibropolished surface.
Choose from sustainably sourced Black North American Walnut or Limited Edition Indian Rosewood handles. The scales are secured with polished solid brass bar and finished with mineral oil to enhance the natural beauty of the timber.
Sharpening
For best results, we recommend maintaining the edge using a round strop charged with polishing compound.
