The Screw Crease is a traditional saddler's tool, also known as a creasing iron.
Based on the original George Barnsley & Sons design, this version has been developed with input from Nigel Armitage of Armitage Leather. Following feedback and testing with Nigel, the Screw Crease is now available with a choice of line widths, allowing makers to select the crease profile best suited to their work.
The highly polished shield-shaped head is split into two halves, with the distance between them adjusted using a thumb screw. Once warmed, the blunt blade is used to crease lines into the surface of the leather.
Suitable for everything from belts and bags to wallets, cases and keyrings.
Extra Fine - approx 0.5mm
Fine - approx 1mm
Medium - approx 1.5mm
Large - approx 2mm
Available in left or right-handed versions with a choice of wooden handles. Each handle is hand finished with oil to bring out the natural grain and colour of the timber.
Wood choices include Ash, Beech, Walnut, Bubinga and Purple Heart.

I had a screw crease before from another brand and never used it because I assumed I just didn't like what it does. Second time ordering from george barnsley and sons I decided to give it another chance and it didn't disappoint. This one does exactly what I want it to do, feels great in the hand with some good weight to it. You can see it's well made and definitely worth its money. Great craftsmanship again!
Well used one for first time couple of weeks ago both cold then hot cold was fine hot took a little getting used to ie start asap don’t leave it in one place have ordered full set of differing sizes but this one is great for practice and occasional differing sizes quality as always is fabulous the best bit for me was great maker and with Nigel Armitage showing me how to use it correctly great teacher
Order arrived within the specified time and it wow it is a lovely item. I have not yet had the chance to use it but I must say it sure look and feel very well made and good quality.
