A Soft Awl is a valuable addition to your leatherwork tool set,
The Soft Awl has a softened edge down its length as well as a it's tip so as not to tear the leather or distort the shape of the hole.
Designed by Nigel to enable you to open pre-pricked stitching holes that may have closed up, to make stitching more accessible. For instance, making those fiddly back stitches easier at the end of a row of stitching, by opening up the hole at the same angle that it was originally made,
Each Soft Awl features a highly polished 2" saddler's harness awl blade fitted with your choice of Anjan, Ebony or Rosewood handle, finished with a rounded polished brass ferrule engraved with the Better Together logo. These dense hardwoods give the tool a reassuring weight and balance in the hand.

Brought very recently and used for the first time today when working on a Knife roll.
in the heat the holes where closing up almost as soon as I created them.
I normally use a Awl to reopen holes but at risk of creating new holes or slicing fingers open, the came into its own here, reopened the holes with no issues or errors in creating a new one by mistake and no sliced open finger tips either, perfect
