Developed in collaboration with Catrien Coppens, Master Saddler at the Royal Mews, the WLSC Point Knife is based on the specification of her own well-used shoe knife, which had been modified over many years to suit her preferred way of working.
 
The design has also been adopted for a training course run by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers and The Leathersellers' Company, helping to introduce more people to leather as a sustainable material and to traditional leatherworking skills.
 
The knife features a British Beech handle with a double-bevelled 2" blade, precision ground from O1 tool steel. The 20mm wide, 1.5mm thick blade has a 35° angled profile, making it well suited to controlled leather paring and general shoemaking work.

Care
O1 is a high-carbon tool steel and requires some care to prevent corrosion. Keep the blade clean and dry when not in use and apply a light coat of oil periodically, particularly if the knife is being stored for any length of time.
Over time, O1 steel may naturally develop a patina. This is normal and will not affect the performance of the knife.
