Developed in collaboration with Catrien Coppens, Master Saddler at the Royal Mews, this knife is based on the specification of her own well-used shoe knife, which had been modified over many years to suit her preferred way of working.
The design has also been adopted for a training course run by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers and The Leathersellers' Company, helping to introduce more people to leather as a sustainable material while encouraging those considering a career in traditional hand skills.
Each knife features a comfortable British beech handle fitted with a double-bevelled 2" blade, precision ground from O1 tool steel.
The 20 mm wide blade has a 35° angled profile, making it well suited to controlled leather paring and general shoemaking work.
